A trip to the vibrant Main Mall

  • The main mall is the heart of Gaborone down town . It is the official old city center and thus retains the old look to date since it was built in 1963. Unlike the CBD, the main mall has an open walk way where exhibitors and various types of vendors trading in cultural souvenirs, local foods, artefacts, crafts and jewelry are found. The mall is in the vicinity of the government enclave, embassies, international bodies and the National Assembly Building. LUNCH at a popular local cuisine eatery

ITENENARY


The Makgadikgadi Pans are the largest salt pans in the world. Shimmering white salt stretches to horizon proving to be a remarkable site in an unpopulated vast area. These spectacular white sands and salts cover an area of 16 000km and were once the center of a massive lake that evaporated 2000 years ago. The beauty of the Makgadikgadi Pans not only lies in the beauty of the salt pans and game viewing but also in experiencing total remoteness and absolute isolation.


DAY 1

​

 

  • Arrive at Maun International airport. You will be met by a friendly lodge representative then transferred to a 4x4 Land cruiser truck to a village of Gweta.

  • Get situated at the lodge. Lunch and dinner served.


DAY 2

 

  • Visit Makgadikgadi National Park full day trip. The trip commences at 06.30am inclusive of packed breakfast lunch and park fees.

  • Open Safari Game Viewing truck. Highlights include witnessing the 2 nd largest Zebra migration in the world. The migration is seen on the Boteti River during the dry season and moves towards the Ntwetwe Pan in the wet season.

  • Dinner at the lodge

  • Ntwetwe Full day trip- Spend the whole day exploring the Ntwete Pan where you will arrive at the Meerkat colony. You will get to hang out with these cute friendly creatures. This experience is an ideal scenario to take breadth taking photos with the Meerkats of Botswana.

  • While in Ntwetwe, you will explore the old trade routes with the Bushmen of the Kalahari along with a local guide. The route will take you to Chapmans and Greens Baobabs.

  • Dinner at the lodge.

  • Cultural Village Walk

  • Take a walk in the village of Gweta and experience the daily life of the inhabitants of the

  • village. Interact with the children at the local primary school. Spend time with the basket weavers and learn to make traditional sorghum and how it is used for a brew.

SALT PANS SLEEP OUT
For a more solitude experience of the vastness of the salt pans. On this tour, one gets to really soak in the allure of the pans. The trip comes with sitting in camp and watching the sun come down as the horizon turns purple and orange. The stargazing experience extends from the camp into the bed as quests sleep under the stars in a desert covered in white salt crystals.

  • Fish Keitsing Monument- The house that hosted NELSON MANDELA and many of his comrades when they fled into exile into Botswana from South Africa.
